Born in 1976 and originally from Crewe in Cheshire, Andrew
Jenkin has lived in Honley near Holmfirth most of his life.
He spent three years at Keele University in Staffordshire
where he obtained an Honours degree in History and Ancient
History.
Andrew began painting in 1999 at evening classes run by artist
Linda Pettican at Armitage Bridge, near Huddersfield. Honley
artist Vera Waddington has encouraged him in his efforts,
and introduced him to the Huddersfield Art Society where he
is now Secretary.
Working from his studio in a nineteenth-century textile mill
near Huddersfield, Andrew produces greetings cards, bookmarks
and prints from his watercolours, many of which depict well-known
buildings and landmarks around the north of England.
Regular exhibitions include the Huddersfield Art Society
Annual Exhibitions and Holmfirth Artweek. Andrew's first solo
exhibition was held in August 2004 at Washington Art Centre. |
